Description

“If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.”

-Lilla Watson

In its seventh year, JAG Productions is embarking on its richest season yet. We are excited to share a full season of theatrical delights that include outdoor concerts, a full spring production of a new play, JAG Juke Joint, JAGfest 7.0, and more. But above all, this season is a reclamation of space needed for Black, Black queer, and Black trans storytelling; a redemption of all things that foster connection, courage and community.

Community is the catchword here. JAG Productions is growing and we are able to do more of what has been important to us all along, establishing more touch-points of connection with our friends, supporters and volunteers. We are therefore opening the season with our inaugural JAG SALON to create and stay in dialogue with you! You'll get to find out what JAG is up to before the general public will and get to directly engage with us on topics that are relevant to the Black arts community.

Our Board Member Nancy Grant opened her doors to welcome JAG friends and community at her home in Strafford and JAG Staff and Board are delighted to invite you to our first and free JAG Salon, Sunday July 31, 4 PM for an afternoon of camaraderie, refreshments, and meaningful engagement between artists, allies, and supporters!

Rest and joy is our birthright – and it is a radical act of resistance in a world in which the wellbeing of living beings is often completely disregarded. Moderated by the inimitable cultural organizer and arts administrator Harold Steward, this JAG Salon will have a special conversation between JAG leadership, board, friends and the community exploring Joy & Wellness as an experiment for radical liberatory practices within the American Theatre and beyond.

We are looking forward to continuing to nurture the relationship between Black art and the community together with you!
